Buehler’s Fresh Foods is partnering with The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and The Cleveland Foodbank for Check Out Hunger.
Check Out Hunger is part of the Foodbank’s Harvest for Hunger campaign. Harvest for Hunger helps make free food available to the more than 500 agency programs operated by the foodbanks, such as hot meal sites, soup kitchens and pantries. Harvest for Hunger is a collaborative effort of four food banks serving 21 counties in northeast Ohio, resulting in one of the largest food and funds drives in the country.
During Check Out Hunger, which runs Feb. 17- March 30, Buehler’s Fresh Foods shoppers can scan donation slips at the checkout aisle. In the past 5 years of participation in the campaign, Buehler’s has donated $82,852 and 13,035 pounds of food to the foodbanks.
“Buehler’s dedication to Check Out Hunger is a key component in the campaign’s continued success,” said Dan Flowers, President and CEO of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. “Buehler’s corporate support allows generous grocery shoppers to make donations that will help hungry people in Northeast Ohio all year long.”

E&H Family Group Adds Third Non-Family Board Member
“E&H Family Group is honored to announce the addition of a third non-family board member to E&H in two years. We appreciate the wisdom, experience, expertise and insight this new group brings to our board”, stated Dan Buehler, president of the company.
Leslie D. Dunn, a native of Cleveland, is new to E&H Family Group’s board as of September. Leslie has had an extensive business and legal career. From 1997 through 2004, Ms. Dunn was the Senior Vice President of Business Development of Cole National Corporation, a NYSE specialty retailer of consumer products with over 3000 stores across the United States and Canada. She also served as Cole’s General Counsel and Secretary. Prior to joining Cole (1985-1997), Ms. Dunn was a partner in the Business Practice Group of Jones Day law firm and prior to that a partner in the corporate practice at Squire Sanders law firm.
Leslie now serves as an Independent Director on the board of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati (FHLB), chairs its Governance Committee and serves on the Audit Committee. She also serves on the advisory board of the Ohio Savings subsidiary of New York Community Bancorp, Inc., on the advisory board of Brown Flynn Communications and formerly as a Director of Telarc International Corporation.
Ms. Dunn has also been an active civic and philanthropic leader. She served from 1999 to 2011 as Chair of the Invest in Children Partnership Committee, a public private partnership between the county and philanthropy serving over 65,000 per year. She is a past Chair and a Life Trustee of the Mt. Sinai Health Care Foundation; Vice Chair of the Metro Health Foundation; Trustee of the David and Inez Myers Foundation; member of the President’s Advisory Committee of Case Western Reserve University; Director of Breakthrough Charter Schools; Director of the Cleveland Museum of Contemporary Art; and Founding Member and Director of In Counsel with Women.
J. Gary Raley, of Bowling Green, Kentucky is starting his second year on E&H Family Group’s board. Gary spent over 30 years with the Johnson family of companies retiring from JohnsonDiversey in June of 2006. Gary spent two and one half years as a Vice President at S.C. Johnson and Son, Inc and was responsible for U.S. sales, Canada and the Caribbean. He also served as President and COO of Johnson Polymer from 2002 to 2006 until it was sold to BASF.
Prior to 2006 Gary was President of Johnson Wax Professional-North America and before that, Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing for Johnson Wax Professional. Prior to joining Johnson Wax Professional, he was Senior Vice President of Sales for Fruit of the Loom and responsible for US retail product sales as well as business in Canada, Mexico and Japan where he brought concepts of category management, VMI inventory management and combined sales and marketing teams to the apparel business. Gary joined Fruit of the Loom after 23 years of sales and marketing assignments at SC Johnson. He held every sales position in the company and had 5 years of brand management experience on such brands as Glade and Raid. Gary now serves on several boards and holds a B.A. degree from Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY and completed the Executive MBA program at Harvard University.
Paul H. Carleton, of Cleveland, is starting his second year on E&H Family Group’s board. Paul is currently Managing Partner of Carleton McKenna & Co., LLC. From 1978 to 1989 Paul held various titles at McDonald & Company and achieved the position of Managing Director in charge of the Investment Banking Group. In 1989 he formed The Carleton Group which in 1993 was transitioned to Carleton, McCreary, Holmes & Co. He was Senior Managing Director at CMH until the firm’s acquisition by KeyCorp in 1996.
Paul has broad experience serving on the boards of both public and private corporations. He currently serves on the boards of Baldwin Wallace University as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He also serves on the boards of University Hospitals Case Medical Center, University Hospitals Medical Group, the Playhouse Square Foundation, Bluecoats, Inc., COMS, LLC and Westfield Bank and is a 2009 graduate of the FBI Citizens’ Academy. He has also held numerous civic positions including President of Leadership Cleveland Alumni Association and Trustee of Northwestern University Alumni Association. Paul earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Baldwin-Wallace College and Master’s in Business Administration from Northwestern University. In 2010, Paul received an honorary doctorate degree from Baldwin-Wallace College.
